Lalique Chameleon
The Lalique Chameleon is one of the many beautiful figurines by Lalique representing nature in the great tradition of Rene lalique
This Figurine is moulded in the form of a lifelike chameleon.
Early versions have an arched back and a rolled-up tail. The Chameleon is usually found in light green glass and the signature is near the base.
They are also found in sapphire blue and there is also an amber hue and the size is 1.75 inches high and 2.66 inches long.
Apart from Lalique, other art glas chameleons were made by Baccarat and Daum.
The Daum version is available in Blue Green or Purple with a clear crystal base.
Lalique also made a Chameleon Bowl
Earlier (1897/1898) Rene Lalique himself made a very esoteric pendant featuring
two chameleons standing beside a rather large cabochon (Surely that couldnt be a ruby that size ..?)
That was a very Metropolis-style pendant in Silver and Blue enamel but with a fairly skeletal appearnce to the figures so they
appear to be wearing Chameleon Armour. That was featured at the Lalique exhibition in the Musee de Luxembourg
