Emile Galle
Emile Galle studied and worked at Meisenthal and produced a superb range of highly decorated and artistic glass in a naturalistic style.He was one of the major forces in the Art Nouveau movement.
In a Similar way to Lalique,Emile Galle had also studied Botany .
He studied Glassmaking at Miesenthal which was a major centre of French Glassmaking.
He later worked from his Fathers factory at Nancy.
Emile Galle became internationally famous after his success at the Paris Exhibition of 1889
Although his early work was in clear glass decorated with enamel,his later work was sometimes similar in style to Lalique with naturalistic themes from his botany studies.
It was generally in heavier glass ,sometimes opaque and which was carved or engraved with plant and other nature motifs.
The work of Emile Galle is some of the most collectible and lovely French Glassware.
There are examples of his work at the Musee de Orsay in Paris.
